Painting Perspectives 2 Day Workshop - Session 2

2 DAY WORKSHOP: ‘Painting Perspectives’

For: all levels

TUTOR: Sadie James

DATE: Saturday 17th & Sunday 25th MAY 2025

TIME: 10am - 2pm

COST: $96 Members, $136 non members

This workshop is run over two linked sessions focused on creating a diptych painting using acrylic on canvas. A diptych is described as two panels presented side by side and often depict related images or scenes. For our inspiration we will be working from two opposing perspectives of the Ningaloo. One being the aerial views of reef and range, the other macro closeups to include coral forms, fish patterns or rock formations. 

The theme of the workshop has been planned to align with this year’s Art Quest 2025 competition and exhibition, which is ‘Connections’. The two paintings will be perfect to submit to the competition later in the year, or even kick start some ideas of your own!

  • Limited to 15 participants 18+

SUNDAY:
Continue with Saturday's weaving or start a new project; loom set up for beginners; clasped warp; adding texture & movement with art yarns, cloth, wool tops etc; tapestry on RHL & frame looms; rag-only rugs on frame looms

ALL MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED, but you can bring extra fabric scraps if you want to make rag rugs & any special yarns you want to use.

A NEW CONCEPT for Youth category (Ages 12+ / under 18) to encourage artists to submit entries into November's EXIBALD 2024!!

 

'ANIMAL MAGIC' is a **FREE** pet portrait workshop, guiding young aspiring Artists (aged 12+ to 18), through the process of painting a pet - either their own domestic pet, or one they would like to have.

 

Artists will need to bring an A4 sized printed photograph, or A4 copy, of their chosen subject to work from.

(No actual pets, of course!)

 

SESSION 2 (Saturday 26/10) will cover finer detailing towards completion.

Completed portraits can be left at the Art Gallery for submission to *Exibald (entry forms will be completed at the end of this session), or taken home to complete and return if wanted.

 NB: Submissions need to be accompanied by a brief *piece of text introducing the subject.
